My Failed Startup Story.

This is the story of how I lost all my savings and wasted two years of my life working in a failed startup. Most startups fail, but we don’t hear about them because the founders and people who worked there are ashamed of the fact. I know, because I was one of them.

In this video I wanted to share my failed startup story, and some of the mistakes I made along the way. I am not saying all startups are doomed to fail, but many won’t become the amazing success that people assume.

If you have been part of a failed startup hopefully this video video helps you feel less alone, and know that you can always reinvent and find new ways forward in your career and life.

About me: I am a professional speaker, writer, and run my own business. You can read my blog or learn more about my work here:

  1. Thx for sharing, I'm also struggling with failure/still trying to fight… it really helps hearing other people also exp this. Even every one's comments here telling their stories. It just helps me to know life will go on and be okay.

  2. i started a business in hosting and software engeneet but i failed only because my family put me down and destroys my motivation because they are abusive. i didnt lose much because i didnt have much in the first place. now i am waiting to save money to live away from my family to give it another go!!! i think that influencers problem is he gives up to easily. many people make money in business but they need to have a good personal life with enough money to not rush it…….Dude you are not optimistic to save your life🤣🤣🤣failing is part of success in business!!

  3. Your problem, no passion for a worthwhile cause. Just chasing money is not enough. You have to have a goal that will make you fulfilled. I have been working on a medical device for diabetics. I got two working prototypes. I have informal data with volunteers and they work very well. But I never quit my job. Once the patents issue, I will be 💯 % invested and will look for capital. I will lose ownership, but I hope to see my ideas helping people. Next time, find a reason to live for helping others. It’s the best feeling in the world. By the way, you did not fail, you learned.

  4. This is so brave and generous. It is true it is really hard to admit that it just isn't working and that perhaps you just can't make it work without making extraordinary sacrifice (and for what?). What is more is that once you admit defeat, it can be such an emotional rollercoaster… anger, shame, depression. It is not really hard to understand that statement that Elon Musk stated… running a business is like staring into the abyss and chewing on glass.

  5. I love this video
    Thank You
Yes I had a story too and I love how you helped us feel better.
Most importantly its so good to help people not get into this Elon Musk or Fakely funded startups that are hardly doing business but just posing as booming.

  6. I felt that this video was honestly way too vague to really have an opinion. Everything he said needed more context.
We don't know if he failed to identify his audience first and therefore the concept was misaligned with market trends.
Or This idea failed because of poor execution which could be SO SO many reasons. So was it just a bad idea or was it mismanaged? No idea.
All we know is that this endeavor cost the man 60K and he has to take it on chin.

  7. What u r experiencing is a moment for pivoting. This is v common in the startup world. Basically, ur app either doesn't pick up the traction or if it is having some traction, but it is not yet reaching the product market fit. A v acceptable response in general for this kind of circumstances is to pivot the strategy, not the ultimate vision. Anyway, im wishing u all the best. As a wise entrepreneur, once told, a startup nvr fails, only their founders quit! All the best!

  8. Thank you so much for sharing. You hear all about the success stories, but for every big success story there is 20 failures and those stories never get told. It took courage to tell your story and i think we are all better for hearing it.
