Today we’re taking a look at the Eero 6+ Wifi 6 Mesh Routers.
In this video I show you what’s in the box, how to setup a device, and run several speed tests to show you improvements to home network speeds.

my apartment came with an eero router…. and I gotta say omfg it sucks. Even at close range I was getting terribly slow speeds, about 50mbps at best. All the units come with the eero, which creates issues because eero's dynamic channel selection is broken – looking at nearby channel usage I see all the eeros have jammed themselves up into one channel. To make it worse, the eeros in this building don't have beamforming so the signal to noise ratio is very poor. In a 1000 sqft apartment I couldn't get consistent internet throughout, especially during peak usage in the building.
I replaced with an axe7800 router, and it's huge difference. A monstrous 15x speed increase and the connection is strong throughout the whole apartment, even during weak wifi usage in the building.
Bottom line: eero is garbage.
So, in your opinion, 2 nodes should be enough for a 2300 sq ft home?
My house is hard-wired with Cat 5 (the house was built in 2001). Will connecting each router via Cat 5 improve or degrade wifi performance? If Cat 5 hard wiring is the better solution, can I install a "hub" on the router connected to the Xfinity modem to accommodate 3 pods set up throughout my house?
I have that router in my office. My iPhone gets 462/350 on Wi-Fi and my desktop pc gets 950/800 over Ethernet and we have 1gb fiber coming to the house.
Hi . So my dad says I need my own wifi . He won’t give me anymore. I would need it . For my room upstairs-other room upstairs. Basement. I need it. Plus in the living room . If I do the living room. Will I get WiFi outside? All the doors led to outside
I hate this generation.
They love to put up with sub standard garbage and pretend it's "fire"
Where'd you put the first Device ? Not near the original router?? With a hardwire?
What about your Ethernet speed
How do i connect ziggbee devices. Its it in the app menu?
I bought this unit and the performance of my home WiFi if so much better than the google nest I had. I’m really pleased with this product
It's way too basic idiot proof overpriced junk. It didn't take the neighbor long at all to break into it thanks to it's outdated wpa2 security. Plus it gets hot and has no vents or fans. My Asus router never gets hot and can out outperform this piece of junk at half the price.
I love these routers. I'm lucky since I can connect them both to a cable, so I have 100% signal from each one. Nice video!
you could put the main router outside of your bedroom, mount it on a wall in the hallway…. that would mean routing the cables through the wall from the bedroom, but an AP in the hallway, right there in the open, should improve things significantly.
im already ready to cancel
verizon home 5g internet is faster im hitting 400mb i made a mistake switching to this cable internet that uses this eeros
i hate it
Is there a way to get the full 880mbps performance throughout the house with this setup? If not, do you have a recommendation for any gear that could achieve gigabit speeds over mesh networks?
Hi David – Thanks for the great review. I'm just signing up for 500mb broadband and it comes with 2 eero 6 plus routers, so the review was very useful. At present as I'm in a rural area I get 1.5mb download and 0.36 upload so really looking forward to getting something better.
Eero sucks. My 6+ started failing and just disconnecting on the 8th month of owning it. For the next several weeks, it just kept disconnecting, and each time I had to manually reset, unplugged and reboot the system. Called Eero customer service several times and would not honor my warranty for a replacement even when I am still under the one year warranty. All they want me to do was to just troubleshoot each time I called. Each time they trouble shoot, it takes an hour long to go each steps. The disconnection still keeps on happening. It was obvious the equipment was defective and they would not honor my warranty to replace it. Stay away from Eero, they wasted my time and money. Their product and customer service sucks so bad!
Why not run cables from the fibre point to where you want the router.
I am using an eero in my living room but I keep dropping connection upstairs would a second router be better than an extender? I am so confused by it all
wait wait wait, you have a gigabyte plan bat only getting less than 200? thats an L. idk how big your house is but when we set up our nighthawk mesh my speed from 20mbs went up to 250+ and our plan is 250mbs. so im assuming there should be a way for you to get your full 1gb speed. try putting the 3d mesh in between 1 and 2 to chain the connection
So how did the speeds turn out in your shed? 🙃
Considering getting a three pack for 3 storey house and hoping it copes
The eero is totally garbage and would not recommend anyone to buy unless you are using it standing right next to it. I’ve had to change internet provider because the eero is all they now supply. I’ve up graded from the eero to the eero 6 to the pro and all perform the same. I would need to run Ethernet cables all over my house and install boosters.
Does superloop send you the eero router to replace your existing one or to add another router to your home?
I need a compatible Poe splitter that will work with it
This internet is garbage, it is not recommended, slow customer service, the app is another garbage, if you block it, it can get stuck, and pausing the internet, also gets stuck.
Hey David I have a quick question to ask? After setting up connecting the Eero WiFi using the Ethernet cable on my wireless router.
Do I still have to use the Ethernet cable or can I use the Eero without Ethernet cable?
Please help before purchasing it?
Hi mate ive got a question. So talktalk has provided me with the eero 6 as the gateway to the modem. However i looking to buy more eeros to extend the range to other rooms. If i buy a 3 pack from amazon, can ill this be 1 new gateway and 2 extenders, or it will be i can use all 3 as extenders?
Another question is if i go for the 6+ which is different to the talk talk provided eero6, if i replace that gateway with the new 6+ will it cause any problems with my existing setup?
Thanks mate
Helpful review. Any update of how its going? Speed still good?
Thanks for the helpful review on placement with a diagram and an easy to follow test setup!
Could you try and place the 3rd eero6+ in Bedroom 2 or the Living Area and test if it increases speed in the home office?
I'd be interested as being closer to Bedroom 1 may mean it picks up a higher bandwidth to re-project down the line to the other eero6+'s
