  1. This advice is so valuable for anyone thinking about starting a blog. Planning things out before diving in can save so much time. For those ready to start, platforms like BlogHandy make setting up a blog simple and hassle-free, especially for beginners.

  2. I respectfully disagree, you can make money blogging if you know how to monetize it. Unfortunately most don’t know how. Ads + affiliates + partnerships $$$$$. Not just blogging personal experience. Same goes for YouTube, telling ppl to get on YouTube but have no monetization strategy, is just as pointless. No one’s going to sit and watch someone talk about their personal life. You should compare apples to apples next time.

  3. Except AI pulls from different web sources (including blogs) and usually cites/links them. So AI could potentially generate more traffic to your site, not less, especially as it improves. And a lot of people, especially students, search for several organic results because those are the most authoritative and credible. Most young people including myself scroll halfway down the results every single time, to skip the ads and other stupid stuff.

  4. I am a blog owner for almost 15 years now (travel niche). Travel blogs have also become relatively irrelevant because AI could now generate travel guides. I've also seen AI-generated articles ranking higher than my organic articles. Meanwhile, for other travel guide essentials like reviews and recommendations, we now have Facebook groups or forums where we could instantly get an answer from real people. Why bother to read long blogs where you could go directly to the point?

Based on your video, my takeaway is this. If you create a blog for the SEO traffic, then you might end-up frustrated (unless Google loves your blog). So, I'd say, create a blog not for the SEO traffic, but create a blog to build a community. With or without SEO, if your following is solid, your traffic will be sustained organically. This model is like the influencer structure on Social Media. It's just that, your followers would have longer attention span (those who want to read blogs and those who want to get rid of the instant gratification of Social Media).

The SEO part is sad, though, because it's also an additional traffic >> income if you rank well. However, since real-time forums and AI have killed the SEO side of travel blogging, bloggers should now focus on narratives or stories that readers would want to follow, not articles for SEO.

  5. Google Search is not the only kid on the block.  We can still create quality blogs, but instead of using Google search to drive traffic to our blogs, we can use Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & YouTube.  There are also a few more Web 2.0 properties we can use to drive traffic to our quality blogs. Plus if we want to spend a little money (pennies per click) there are also huge native ads network like Taboola, Outbrain, Revcontent etc, where we can drive boatloads of traffic to our quality blogs. GOOGLE SEARCH IS NOT THE ONLY KID ON THE BLOCK!!!

  6. I think that people who have been updated in the use of digital services, for years don't use Google to search for info on the internet, maybe only for banal and insignificant things. But to really find something important there is specialized services.

  7. I get the point. At the same time, I believe we are giving too much power to bigger corporations like Google, who own all platforms and decide the rules. There should be ways to become less dependent on Google and other platforms. It's not easy, no.

  8. Hot take: Google itself will slowly become irrelevant as people figure out that they can just ask ChatGPT for the answers to their question and not have to do any searching at all, all the while having a personal experience with their very own chat bot.

  9. I've been in the SEO world for 5+ years and your best bet is to double down on YouTube.

    – You have a better chance of growing a channel vs a blog on organic search
    – Since Google owns YouTube, there's a decent chance of your videos ranking in organic search (if optimized correctly)
    – You can repurpose your long-form videos into blogs using AI to summarize your video transcripts in your own writing style
    – You can repurpose long-form videos into short clips and distribute on Shorts, TikTok, Reels, etc.

  10. Can't believe I'm the first to comment! lol. You make some solid points. People probably aren't going to have that solid trust and connection with an AI blog. Which is why I'm using my AI blog to grow an email and build trust through a podcast. I hate YouTube so podcasts are the next best thing in my opinion.
