As the nationwide teacher shortage reaches crisis levels, states are scrambling to fill their classrooms. Texas is switching to four-day weeks, while Florida is asking veterans with no experience to step in. Some districts are now going virtual: remote teachers instructing classrooms full of students. We travel to one school in Georgia to see the advantages and disadvantages of this type of learning.

This is a scam
Why take the chance of getting killed in school. It's too risky nowadays.
"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:38-39;
When a parent sits in a meeting and blames a teacher for their child's behavior at school, you know something is wrong. I've seen this happen and I understand why teachers are leaving
I just got my first job as a teacher in a private school, but I interviewed at another school that was public. I do like the idea of virtual classrooms with an in person facilitator. I think it can work both ways (and I've done both, doing the hybrid model). It just depends on the student.
I'm surprised you have any teachers left after the push for them to take up arms.
Man I never thought the education system would get more broken after the pandemic. I feel sorry for those students.
Nowadays, kids are horrible, and their parents are even worse. It's simply not worth dealing with the headache for such a small amount of money, from a teaching perspective.
In Republican States, the Governor and Republican Legislators seem to think it doesn't take much education to be an educator. Look at the big picture, the Governors need to do their job and let teachers do theirs. How will this affect kids down the line. America has been behind in Education for years. This will not end well.
There was a nationwide teachers shortage prior to the coronavirus pandemic and even after the pandemic.. the shortage exacerbated several factors contributed to the teachers shortage ( 1) burnout, (2) bullying, (3) violence, (4) low salary, (5) misbehaving kids, (6) disrespect, (7) undervalued, (8) fear of contracting coronavirus, etc. To combat the nationwide teachers shortage that is plaguing American schools they need to start paying these educators a living wage otherwise, many will leave the profession in pursuit of higher paying jobs.
I have mixed feelings about this because on the one hand I would not have to deal with bullies but on the other I would not have a teacher in front of me to help me or answer my questions
So has anyone connected all these teacher vacancies to the overload of school shootings here? No one wants their job to be their funeral parlor. This isn't a joke.
We can thank the GOP for this train wreck of our education system.
We have the technology why not use it…
introverts: Virtual
extroverts:in person
America is going into the CRAPPER!!!!!! WOW TRUMP IS A KUT!!!!! 🖕
If you are a an athlete and need a school or only care about sports.. than that’s one thing.. but why risk your child’s life to play a sport?
You don’t need to be in class. With technology today .. you don’t need to be in person.
Terminator 2 3D Battle Across Time told us this would happen. Cyberdyne is SkyNet & SkyNet’s hunger for human eradication is never satisfied.😳
It’s too dangerous to go to school. Why bother? Just go virtual.
It should be all virtual. No one wants to be shot .
Can they also hire incarcerated teachers to work as virtual educators, just like Ms Puff from “SpongeBob SquarePants”?
Hope parents/ politicians are starting to realize that no one wants to deal with Americans ferral kids.
I'm taking all my classes online 🙂 I can sleep longer and don't have to worry about getting to school 🙃
Education doesn't equal good character. Thats another myth sold to gullible educated people.
Lol put everything on the grid so it can be shut down 😂
So, the powers thar be have created this nonsense. Every generation gets a dose of the agenda. They say by 2050 all schooling will be at home virtual learning. More UN Rockefeller education. Created to keep you dumb, just enough to push buttons and flip switches.
Nothing can replace teacher physically present and teaching experience..in virtual teaching teacher-student bond would be missing.
I see a lot of illegals have become teachers.
That’s what they get for treating teachers like sh*t all these years…seriously treat teachers as autonomous and respected not something you can use and discard
Don’t worry. They education be good.
This nation stupidity is destroying it's youth
Very futuristic
You can have the best teacher, teaching one on one… but if the child doesn’t want to learn, then it won’t learn. Making education fun is key to teaching…
I mean it’s a start. We have a lot to figure out.
As a Spanish teacher I would want to teach in person twice a week and virtual twice a week. Two days for lessons. One day for application. One day for assessment on the unit. Day five should be used for grading and data gathering for the next weeks classes.
I teach my students even on instagram.
I want to teach hybrid.
It's just not the same as getting to call students privileged and telling them that their parents are racist in person.
Schools tend to prefer female teachers then white teachers. This is why there is a shortage because of discrimination despite that teaching programs have higher diversity student population than other fields yet there is a discrepancy in the reality of being hired as a teacher.
America's employment practices based on marginalization was exposed during the pandemic and today education also suffered the consequences of such practices. With the high cost of living and recession, it is not worth it to go 2 years without pay to become a teacher and then live under poverty for the rest of your life and the mental abuse from students and society for being a teacher.
I don't see an issue. These kids look pretty mature to be able to handle it. Elementary is a different story.
So give teachers double the classroom size to facilitate a teachers shortage…do they get a raise for this? Don’t answer that…I already know.
don't have a spanic teacher,United States is a English country not spanic Unfortunately spanic specially Dominican can not take everything from another country.
