Funny because i had the same situation except the ebay phones were great, and the amazon renewed phone looked like crap for a supposedly renewed phone. I sent the amazon phone back and kept the ebay phone that came with a one year allstate warranty. That's why i prefer ebay refurbished over Amazon renewed, because anything that says ebay refurbished automatically comes with that one year allstate warranty, which works great, by the way.

It all depends on sellers rating and how many they've sold. Always go 99.7 or higher where 10000s have been sold. But they always last me a year or 2 and just blink of an eye fry. My s5 and note 4 just died while I picked it up after owning them for years. Since then I've bought new but I'm about to buy another "refurbished" wish me luck

I have tried buying from Amazon Renewed. What was sent did not match the listing. The replacement was no better. I bought a second phone, same problem. After 4 phones, I could not get a phone that matched the listing. No thanks….

bought twice from different seller both times phones came with defect bad battery, network just lose connection after a few minutes only to realize it was from the same seller who constantly change names on amazon one day was bluechip next was tangxl,other was chiptech. would never buy a used phone from amazon again. did get my refund but its just a bad experience

Does having Verizon firmware on the phone means it's refurbished or just the carrier ?
I have had my s21+ that came with Verizon rom for nearly 2 years but i am not sure if it was new or renewed.
I noticed nothing odd about it + the battery health was 98% knowing that it's a pre-owned phone , so i couldn't tell

I've mostly had great experiences buying on the resale market. Only one time I got a phone that had 77% battery health. That was unacceptable given that it was sold as very good condition. But every other used phone I've had has been between 87 and 99 percent battery health and almost pristine condition.
How about ebay open box. I am sending one of these back, a Galaxy Flip 5 because screen was going crazy with lines and such.. Most open box phones on ebay are saying that they are new.
