Some drivers of a new Mercedes-Benz S-Class or EQS will be able to take advantage of Mercedes-Benz’s latest self-driving mode it’s calling “Drive Pilot.” But as CNN’s Peter Valdes-Dapena reports, the technology has a number of limitations. #CNN #News #mercedes #automobile #car

ok…what about roundabouts and priority to the right ( a traffic rule that applies in chiefly Norway (as well as Sweden and Finland) and obliges a vehicle driver to give way for other vehicles oncoming from the right, mainly at a junction without priority signs and traffic signals )
Pretty pointless , Tesla is now hands free and within a year should be level 5, that’s game over😎
Can't drive in rain, can't drive at night, can only go straight, can only drive on highway, can't go above 40 mile per hour…this thing has the same driving condition as my wife. She never drive.
GEEZ it’s limited!
I’ll keep my Tesla’s FSD thank you!
🤣🤣🤣 level-3?!11. Main stream media sucking d*** again. Corruption at its best
How much did Mercedes pay CNN for that "story" ?
What a fucking JOKE, this is text book scam, "LEVEL3 autonomy" Tesla FSD is lightyears ahead: Any speed, any road, trafic lights, roundabouts, you name it, input your destination and the car does the rest. Mercedes is scamming rich folks because they are stupid!.
So, you didn't test it at all, but made a video about it anyway.
I'm pretty sure that Tesla could get Full Self Driving to not require attention if they thought it was worth it in such limited conditions. It's ridiculous that people use this system to slam FSD. Yes, you're supposed to pay attention still but it does almost all of my driving in pretty much any situation. It's not very good in blizzards yet.
Imagine once Mercedes hits level 4 people are going to save thousands of hours not driving and instead watching tiktok videos 😂
So let’s be clear here, this is not autonomous driving, this is a joke, as Tesla cars can drive anywhere, and at highway speeds today, not tomorrow, but today, and the only reason they will not tell you, you can take your hands off of the wheel is, because of government regulations, and the fact that there is a tremendous amount of risk involved in doing that, particularly since the regulations have not changed.
So not just Tesla, but all cars in this category that are equipped with some type driver assistance (ADAS) systems, will have to demonstrate a level of confidence that the vehicles are safer than the average driver, and in the case of Tesla, and others who are pursuing self driving/autonomous driving cars, that level is elevated to a higher level of confidence in order to convince regulators to change the law.
So we all know that the current regulations requires that you have a licensed driver at the wheel at all times while the vehicle is driving on public highways/streets/roads, and so it would be the height of insanity for a car company to tell folks that they can drive hands-free, which is what GM did, knowing full well that most people who can afford that level of driver assistance would never just simply not maintain control of their vehicles, they just wouldn’t do it, and not only that, think about the restrictions both GM and Mercedes put on the drivers by telling them that these cars can only be driven that way on certain mapped or Geo-fenced highways.
So what happens if you get into the neighborhood? These systems are effectively shut down, locked out, blocked out, and you can’t even activate them.
So is GM taking a risk? You damn right they are, and so I don’t see any reason Tesla should take such a risk, particularly since the regulations are clear, that you must have a licensed driver who is ultimate responsible for what the car is doing, and no matter under what conditions it’s driving in. Capeesh! Cheers 🥂
Simple road conditions and low speed only.
people in the comments be like…
Mercedes doing level 3 self driving: i sleep
Tesla doing only level 2 self driving: REAL SHIT!!!
I'll keep my 2007 manual drive Saab. No cruise control, the radio has been broken for 4 years, the roof leaks, and the seats are no longer comfortable. Engine purrs like a kitten.
TESLA AUTOPILOT AND FSD ARE BETTER! You can drive anywhere and at speeds past 40 mph at night and day also FSD IS GOOD I used FSD ON WINDING ROADS IN TJE ROCKY MOUNTAINS AND I BET MERCEDES
CANT DO IT IN A DAY. PROVE ME WRONG

CNN is now selling products? What happened to its status as a premier news channel?
Who goes at 40 mph on the highway? 😂😂😂
Эти несколько марок автомобилей, привезены из Германии, это не американские марки. Где сейчас все марки лимузинов 1970х годов? Спросите у Байдена и Трампа.
All of that will never be able in the Deep South 😂😂
Let's see……only under 40 mph, only during daylight, only if it is not raining, only on designated r
oads, only $2500/yr? They left out one last condition…..only if the driver/owner is stupid enough to pay through the nose for this limited functionality. Maybe they'll give a discount for signing up for autopay?
Nice report, poor technol8g
It’s funny how so many people are willing to give their lives and freedoms over the whatever the new narrative is Lmaooo 😂🤦🏽♂️
WHY would any sane person trust their life and the lives of their loved ones to a freakin computer at 70 mph? Or even 40 mph?
Tesla was the first that almost had people SLEEPING in the car. Mercedes is just a way behind….please..
So now the police have to know the make a model of cars that are allowed to do this? That is not alright. And I don't care if it is legal, using the touch screen to pay games or watch videos, that is a slippery slope.
My nissan does that now..
Not for me, no way!
