17-year-old, Anna Nixon co-founded STEM4Girls, a non-profit organization that works to get more girls involved in STEM activities and shares the importance of education for youth and what adults can do to help.

Interpretation for TEDxSalem V (2018) was provided by student interns through a collaboration between Western Oregon University, TEDxSalem, and the Deaf and interpreting communities of Oregon. The volunteer student interpreters were supported by volunteer, certified interpreters in order to minimize potential errors. Your support of these pre-professional interpreters’ growing skills is appreciated. 17 year old Anna Nixon is currently a senior in high school. She has grown up with an avid interest in STEM because her parents used to bring home the latest gadgets for her and her siblings to play with. The first time she worked with robots was in elementary school and she has been competing in robotics competitions since she was 7 years old. Nixon’s passion for science and technology led her to co-found STEM4Girls, a non-profit organization that works to get more girls involved in STEM activities. She is also currently working at Autodesk on the Synthesis team to create a simulator so that robotics teams can test their code and their designs in a virtual environment.   21. Thank you very much for sheering your knowlings by TED. I hope so many teachers will know how to take advantage of these strategies in the classroom. Because you are all right we need to make education more easily and more accessible.

John Dewey often regarded as the father of education om e stated we only think when confronted with a problem, that's why students need to be givrn the chance to apoly their skills before they feel satisfied with their knowledge and studies have shown over and over again that students do better when they get the chance to overlop an emotional connection to the subject that they are learing emotion drives attention and attention drives learning.

  37. in order to that we need to show kids how the skiils that they're learing in school can be applied to the things that happen around them in their day to day lives. every subject is importent whether is literature chemistry of calculus, but the reason fhe students sometimes get frustrated or start to feel that these subjects are useless is because they are rarely given the chance to apply them.

  51. I used these arguments and many other today to present my case for a selection into this organization that could change things at schools. During this part of my presentation they cut me off and then presumed to tell me later on that I wasn't selected for not talking about the thing I wanted to say at the moment I was cut off. I really hope that we can make a change. Unfortunately I wasn't successful this time, but I won't give up!

  55. Often the best way to meet the clients satisfaction which will directly add to the revenue of the business is thru customers feedback…very much applicable to attaining the aim of education.

  65. No inspiration can be more than inspiration from your parents. I agree that everybody in this world should have access to education and the main aim of this education should be to enhance our critical thinking. Applying our knowledge through hands-on learning is the only way to retain it for a longer time. Congratulations Anna on having such a perspective at this age.
