As we prepare for 2025, we have some big thoughts on our mind like what other AI innovations will we see next, will wearables get the upgrades we’re waiting for, and what will be the price of, well, everything? We sat down with The Verge staff to hear about what they think will happen in the biggest technology sectors in the next year.

What’s your best and worst tech prediction for 2025?
I think these peoples guesses are just as good as anyones. It is almost impossible to predict the future, and journalists are notoriously bad at it
Some dude : I got a shiny new smart lock on my door!
A power outage happens or it runs out of batteries : F**K! HOW DO I GET IN!
We can all trust our health data to big tech. I mean, they won't sell it to life insurance companies or anything.
Or you could just…use a key to open your door. Was it really that hard to use a key? This is not innovation..
Come January there’s going to be a mad rush for getting new cars for those who need it or for those who’s cars are just getting to the point where it’s not worth it keep repairing. It won’t just be for EVs but just regular cars
Mining Uranium and disposing Nuclear Waste is MAGNITUDES better than coal. Uranium is energy dense and uses less than 1% of the land needed to mine the amount of coal that would provide the same energy. As far as waste goes, there is a facility in Norway that can hold all the world's nuclear waste for many decades to come. Of course solar is cheaper, but nuclear power in non-earthquake prone regions is safe and clean.
Drones. Fire breathing Drones. And UFO's
Trump is going to be better than the verge, all you are losers
this should have been 2x larger video 🙁 SINCE YOUR WEBSITE IS ALL PAID NONE FUN
AI and IoT.
My 2025 trend prediction is that people will be hiding their identity more intensely because of the privacy issues we face today
Smart home devices are the absolute worst! They add complexity and cost to items that don’t need it. Smart key? Oh now you need to battery, and maybe an app, and oh it needs to connect to your WiFi. Smart fridge? wtf. Smart Thermostat? I had a Nest, and it did whatever it wanted. I would turn down the temp, and then while I was sleeping it would turn off the A/C because it was “saving me money”. Get outta here with that! It’s my money, I earned it. If I wanna spend it on turning my bedroom into a glacier I will.
Anyway just a rant.
smart door lock will not widely adapted.
For whom this is???
Drone prices 😂
My prediction is I'll sadly stop reading my main news site, the verge, cause theyre paywalling all the stories I'd want to read
Literally the first time ive heard of wintel, that dude made it up
Vjeran- the new Dietier 😊
So 2025 is doors you cant unlock and more uselss AI 🥱
My 2025 prediction is that we'll see more people using analog tech or less tech e.g. mechanical watches, books, vinyls, social media detox and more IRL experiences rather than URL.
Project 2025
This video has a feel of a back-page article in a women's magazine.
best prediction + worst prediction: Energy Crisis
Aliro? 2025 confirmed the year of Esperanto
Long story short, 2025 trump kills tech companies in America.
2025 is the year of AI agents!
So Amazing to see everyone even some who only come on from time to time. Thanks so much enjoyed. I go back with some for long time. Hope you all have a Wonderful Christmas and Holidays. 💯✌️
That Hawk Tua transition was fire😂
EVs will continue slide downward and tariffs will rattle all of tech.
open-source gaming upscalers like fsr will rise in popularity and implementation
"chat." 🤢
Google Pixel will rise in popularity
Maybe y'all should've focused on the Verges financial future 🐍🥁
I can appreciate the use of smart (door) locks for internal security within a company, but seriously, what is so difficult or traumatic about carrying a physical key. It seems to me to be just another way that burglars and other criminals will be able to exploit to easily gain access to one's home. Has the tech industry not noticed the way that cars with electronic key fobs are stolen? It is an unnecessary expense. The one thing that these tech companies are not doing well enough is using their AI technology to help them roll out their software etc in far more languages than they currently do. Instead, they are pushing other languages onto users and by doing so, they are aiding and abetting the destruction of other cultures and languages. Many of which are very vulnerable. I personally find this an absolute disgrace and governments around the world that actually do work positively and constructively to protect such languages should start demanding action on this. Access to technology in one's own language should be the first priority.
Tax credit for EV's only saves you a few hundred dollars in taxes.
A $7,500 tax credit, will not save you $7,500.
All it does is lover you tax liability.
My prediction is we will get all this stuff and yet won't be any happier or more fulfilled.
FDA clearance while Samsung is still waiting for blood pressure monitoring clearance in the US since the Galaxy Watch 3 lol, I hope it speeds up and that is fixed.
WINTEL WILL BE WINVIDIA, COZ AZURE IS STILL THE 2ND LARGEST CLOUD PROVIDER
This has to be one of the most unimaginative set of predictions.
Everything that was said here could be rephrased as "whatever has happened in 2024 will continue to happen in 2025".
And yes, Allison could have used better cameras. I'm pretty sure any phone would have better than whatever vaseline smeared potato she used.
It's a good thing that electrics are going to stop being a fashion… Let the small vehicles with 2 or 3 doors and manual transmission come back…
It's already boring that everyone is making electrified “SUVs” with a lot of doors, they all do exactly the same thing…
