  1. Then there is student technology. The kids have can independently use the technology at school, but can’t remember how to sign in at home. The tablet uses a scan card. Real difficult, but the parents can’t figure it out.

  3. I gave up on using the remote for the projector almost right away. I found the power button on the projector itself, so I just poke it with my yardstick. It's easier since unlike the remote, the yardstick doesn't have batteries that are constantly dying. Plus, even when the remote did work I had stand right under the projector and hold it up to where it was less than 36 inches from it anyway, so I think I'm coming out ahead here. Sometimes I don't even have to do that. I've had a few classes with one of the high school guys that would stand up and turn the projector on before I could get to it, then laugh about being taller than I am.

  5. To keep my screen down, I took a brick, wrapped it in a layer of batting, then my mom helped me wrap it in scrap fabric and sewed it together. I put a ribbon around it and attached the handle of the screen to my pretty brick with an s hook.

  6. Those battery backup lights remind me of a battery backup unit for a fiber optic internet system I was forced to live with. You dared to speak all you'd hear is beep, beep, beep it was really unnerving.

  7. My first year teaching and my last year teaching 25+ years later all I had was a 75lb record player which housed 30,000 cockroaches and a 30lb tape recorder. We also used ditto machines until about 2001 and chalk boards until 2010.

  8. When I started in '94 we still had blackboards. Whiteboards showed up in '01. My main clasroom (shared) had a hidden solar switch we were never able to find: As soon as the sun swung around to shine into the classroom the heat cranked. And yeah, none of the tech ever worked.

  9. Oh my goodness. I love watching these. They are soooo funny 🤣. I am always laughing out loud because these are the exact kinds of thoughts that I have all the time in my classroom, at my school, and as a teacher in general. 🤣🤣🤣 Too perfect!!!

  10. I worked at a school with wifi for the students' devices. IT set it up so they didn't know the password-it was just saved on the student school-owned devices.

Teachers had wired-in ethernet cables like they are shown in this video, because teachers WERE NOT ALLOWED to have the wifi password. Not for their phones, not for them to bring in a laptop; teachers were just not allowed wireless internet access.

  11. I work in higher education, and I can attest that they don't care much more about education at our level either.
In many ways, education is a money-laundering scam to transfer tax dollars to cronies of elected officials.
For example, they put fancy, soft, plush chairs in the CHEMISTRY LAB. They lasted about a year, at which point some other friend of the board of regents found some different chairs to pawn off on the Chemistry department.

  12. Thanks for the video! I had a great time watching it. Most terrifying thing ? I’m a High school and post-High School french literature teacher from France and 90% of your classroom is similar to mine! (even got the same video-projector…). Mostly at least, because in France we don’t have AC in our classrooms – always nice for the students and their teacher to enjoy some heatstroke- and there’s no phone or printer… I’ve been a teacher for almost 30 years and things are not getting better. Thankfully, I still have passion in me and, regardless of the obsolete hardware and the somewhat antic decor, I teach in a well-regarded High School. Cheers from France!
