  1. Annual Update: Apart from the need to perform monthly printer cleaning and maintenance routines built into the printer software, this printer still works and remains my primary printer for documentation at home. I’ve only had to refill the inks once, and it’s still functioning well. I’ll keep you all posted if it happens to break down and needs replacement. If I do replace it, I’ll create a new video to review the printer that takes its place.

05/14/24: As of this date, we still use the printer as the home main printer and still works as good as new. We just noticed for the printer to always be printing all the colors out. Once a month we perform the printer maintenance built in the software to prevent the colors ink from dying out and causing problems. I am planning on uploading a follow up video because I’m still very impressed.

  2. Only if you print at least every 3 days a couple of pages with all colors, buy ink jet printer or mft ink-jet.
On mine epson eco tank (are ink levels): black at 25%, other 3 colors are at 90% -> after almost 3 years.
Will check waste ink pads this week.

Otherwise buy laser (mft) , b/w of course.I certainly will !

  3. Having had two of this type of printer, even with timely maintenance, these usually fail before the ink has been depleted (which could be a good/bad thing depending on how you look at it)…these make more sense for people who print in bulk/often. Ultimately, which type you should buy (ink-tank vs cartridge-based) will depend on your need: frequency with which you normally print. The initial cost of inktank printers is usually high, but the inks are relatively cheap and last quite long; cartridge based printers are cheap but their cartridges themselves are expensive and don't yield too many pages (I've had two cartridge based printers in the past and it's shocking how quickly the ink gets over the times you decide to print a few full-page colour photos)…
If all you are doing is B&W text printing, laser printers make more sense in the long run…

  4. TRUE … unless you're going to print every day, you'll end up with a clogged machine that stops printing within a year. DON'T BUY ONE UNLESS YOU'RE A MAINTENANCE WHORE. THE CONSTANT "DECLOGGING" USES UP ANY INK SAVINGS THE ECO bull S * CLAIMS TO SAVE YOU. You'll feel ripped off. search: Epson NOT PRINTING.

  5. I have that model and the ET-8550. Both are excellent printers especially for pictures. I have had ET-2850 for three years and have yet to need the spare set of inks that came with it. I have had my ET-8550 for two years and once again, I'm still using the origianl inks that came with it. Rather than let the printer "clean" the printheads which drains ink, deliberately in my view I do the following. Every week I print a nozzle check, if I find a clogged head I'd clean it but I haven't had to. Epsons used to be awful for clogged heads that made you replace the printer. No more. I print A4 and A3 pictures and even doing that, the ink use is negligable. This should have happened 20 years ago but of course it was a nice little earner for Epson and the other makers.

  6. I’m looking at buying one of these, but I have concerns which aren’t being addressed. My number 1 concern is about the maintenance box. Some have suggested after only about 6 months of use they’re getting end-of-life warnings. I’ve also heard you can buy replacement boxes, but they have a chip. That means you can’t just bypass the box by routing the waste ink externally. It seems like another scam, similar to the ink cartridges with the chips. We get away from one scam and they introduce another. I’m looking for an honest review that talks about this.

  7. So, I can only set it up via phone app but, I don't want to be printing from my phone, I work from my Macbook, does this mean each time I want to print something, I have to use my phone?

  8. Was a big HP fan. But the ink cost was horrible so changed. I have owned 3 ecotanks. First one did not have ADF so when one came out with ADF bought it and gave the other to grandkids. Second one went to hubby who rarely prints but it is here as a back up. My current one is ET-3760; have had it since 8/2021. Have printed 17,617 pages; 13,887 color; 3,730 B&W. Just now getting the maintenance box warning so my next stop is to find out how to fix that. LOVE these machines. Print quality to me with the first was not the same as HP but I don't think most people notice the difference. Have not kept track of my ink cost but overall I may have purchased 4 -5 sets.

  9. I have had 3 Epson ink jets and the heads clogged up on all of them, result was they become scrap. I tried dismantaling and cleaninging, everything. The way the heads are designed results in excellent quality photo prints but the heads allways clog up, friends have them and same thing.

  10. There is an unspoken rule with printers. Most people tend to sell what they print. ALWAYS set aside a fund to buy a new printer, then use as is until it breaks, repeat. Do not forget this!!!
