Pulling your kids out of the “system” is one of the best things you can do, especially in this sociopolitical climate. However, homeschooling isn’t an option for all families. We should focus on changing the education model from the ground up, and some schools are already doing this.

  1. I’m trying to get my firstborn out of public school but her dad won’t do the research even after I told him he should 😢. My youngest I will be homeschooling

  2. I don't think I'm reaching here either when I say this could have a positive effect on birth rates (if you want the birth rate to go up) because in a system like this kids could become less expensive to have overall if they start earning money sooner or if they literally get paid to get an education.

  3. I thought this was normal, lol. I graduated about 2 years ago, and my school district had a building called "The career center". When you are in your last year of middle school, you start planning all your high school classes and pick something called an "endorsment." It's sorta like a major or field of study. During your time in high school, you not only take the required high school classes but also the required classes for your endorsment. These endorsments are meant to help student figure out what they would like to do after high school and essentially help them into the workforce/college. There are endorsemtns for being an EMT, a vet assistant, CMA, a braodcaster, radio talk show host, cosmetology, photography, business, and almost everything. For endorsments like EMT, or first responders, They take you out to the field to get real experience with actually first responders. Once you are at the end of your high school journey, you take the certification exam, and then you can work as a first responder straight out of high school. However, if your goal is college, our school district is in a partnership with the community college in our city, and students can take AP or dual credit classes. If students really wished to, they could go to the specialized high school dedicated to students who only want to focus on academics. That high school is called "Early college high school." It's basically a high school that offers no extra curreculars activities (unless students want to make clubs) and gets the 4 years of high school done in 2 years and the first 2 years of college in the last 2 years. Students would essentially graduate with their high school diploma 2 years before regular students and their associates after their senior year. It's a great system that i thought would be everywhere else. It's also completely free. theyre not private institutions. ECHS does need an application to be accepted, but thats because they will not waste their time on students who dont care about academics. You need an average of A & High B's to get in with an essay. It's great. the other high schools are just like your high schools. Idk why it isn't in every school district. the people here do excellent.

  4. Active home schooling can definitely be an option, but there does need to be some check in at least once a year to ensure the kids are okay. There's a new unschooling trend that is horrifying where the parents take their kids out of school and don't actually teach them how to read/write or science/math.

  5. I live in Australia, probably abkut 1/3 of my school is dedicated to textiles, agriculture, woodwork, engineering, food technology, digital technologies and more. My highschool has been like this for decades.

  6. Can you make a video going into details of homeschooling? like the curriculum that you had, what tests you had to take, who supervised you when you studied at home, does one parent have to stay at home to supervise, how much it costs, what platforms to use (Khan's academy, etc.)?

  7. Can you please do some digging into the school system re: championship of liberal social justice implementation juxtaposed with their ACTUAL treatment of employees and students with disabilities who are often dismissed and marginalized? As a former school teacher, ableism was the worst social issue I observed and suffered the consequences of … While watching them pat themselves on the back for ineffective "progressive" policies. Hope this makes sense.

  8. I was homeschooled in High School and I hated it, I was self taught with no support. I wentvto college and had a teacher that didn't teach, we self taught and he didn't answer our questions. I greatly dislike homeschooling, however I believe in any school setting the students need support. They often do not get that inschool and some at home. My community has a pre-k -7th home school group at 8th grade they go into public or private school.
My kids thrive in public school, myself and my husband both work and both help them with their work, sports, art and so on. We at home teach them what the school doesn't. No curriculum and our public school (high school) offers trades, gets the students certification on the trade and get the students hired into a part time job. Everything from vet tech to hair cutting, auto motive to ranch hands/green hands. It's in our district, and they do not bus people in the neighboring districts have the same set up.

  9. Mum mum works at an Education Support school for special needs students, and this is the sort of things they do. They learn real life skills so that they can enter the workplace after high school. I thought it was incredible when I heard about it
