A growing number of classrooms in China are equipped with artificial-intelligence cameras and brain-wave trackers. While many parents and teachers see them as tools to improve grades, they’ve become some children’s worst nightmare.

  1. Some of the crazy staffs do exist. But actually no matter how much monitoring and surveillance are there we just got to be used to that so people never feel like they were monitored. Actually in most of the schools nobody will take the surveillance camera seriously. There are always 2 or 3 people sitting in the surveillance video rooms and looking at all the videos recorded by the cameras, but usually they just ignore when they see "bad" behaviours. The teachers could access then cameras, but most teachers also understand that it's not right to always monitoring students' behaviour, and more importantly, they would not be paid extra if they checking the cameras everyday. Maybe some of the extreme schools and teachers do crazy things, but I did not experience or heard of even once that students had bad behaviour and was punished by the school. Always the students are caught by the teachers, and then the teachers go back to see the cameras as an evidence of their behaviour.

  2. lets solve social anxiety, depression, and insecurity in youth by:
    – Monitoring their position constantly
    – Always knowing how much attention they are paying
    – letting their parents know as well
I'm sure this will help make them feel safe and secure, and have their privacy!
clearly this won't be used to change school to improve their score and attention, but to punish better the students that fail

  3. Look at those young faces; intelligence and concentration are written on every face. I remember my school days, and given a choice, I know which I would have chosen. A disciplined classroom is a winner in every department. Especially intelligence.

  4. Einstein said some of his greatest physics discoveries was during daydreaming. I was a terrible student and i solved the theory of everything in 1987 .been running for my life ever since couldn't even finish high school

  5. You really need to tell scientific research from ordinary students' life. A lot of this contents are just research projects. You are dillusional if you think this is how people spend their days. I can see the video is insinuating how this country is controlled and dystopian but it's not. The 144 transit visa is not hard to apply, so if you are truly interested in China, you can simple have a visit.

  6. This is some borderline Geneva Convention level of breaking human rights. And to children as well, they are prisoners and too young to realise it. Absolutely deplorable and despicable practices.
