Amazon Fire HD 10 (2024) Review | Best Budget Tablet?

Reviewing Amazon’s Fire HD 10 Tablet (13th Generation), fresh for 2024 with a UK price under £200. This affordable Fire OS device is ideal for families or keeping kids entertained, but the Amazon Fire HD 10 also makes some compromises to hit that budget cost.

If you haven’t used one of these tablets before, you can expect a heavy emphasis of Amazon’s own apps and services. If you don’t use the likes of Prime Video, there are always alternatives – the Fire HD 10 2024 supports Netflix, Disney Plus, iPlayer etc. But note that there’s no love for Google on that apps library!

You’ve got the Alexa assistant baked into the Amazon Fire HD 10 13th generation tablet, with Show Mode to turn it into a handy smart display or digital photo frame. You can also get gaming, although the Mediatek chipset is rather basic so expect juddery performance from more demanding games.

Battery life is respectable, offering ten hours of mixed use or video streaming. The Amazon Fire HD 10 also offers keyboard and stylus support, if you have extra cash for those accessories. Here in the UK it’s £142 for the base model, with more added on for an ad-free experience and more storage.

So that’s the Amazon Fire HD 10 2024 model, check out my reviews of the other best tablets right now!

  1. Great review, like the candid comments, wish I had been wise to the limitations of Fire OS before ordering an HD10. As at mid December 2024 the standard price for the HD10 on the UK 'high street' is £70, so less of a loss. Hoping that I find a way to at least get YouTube on it, which is my main main source of screen based entertainment these days.

  2. I was looking at it here in the USA 5 minutes ago….they offered it for 75.- USD right now and i had a old Kindle Fire 7 HD lying around for what they still offered me as trade in 20.- USD…means i ordered it right now for 55.- Dollar. That was a catch.

  3. THIS IS THE WORST TABLET EVER KNWON TO MAN KIND FIRST OF ALL IT CANT PLAY PUBG MOBLIE OR FORNITE AT ALL AND IT WOULD FREEZE THIS TABLET IS THE WORST TABLET EVER AND I HAVE IT TILL THIS SECOND F*CK THIS TABLET

  4. are all apps compatible with this, I had a kindle fire years ago but a lot of apps weren't compatible with that tablet. It was a bad tablet I took it and busted it up with a hammer. lol is tik tok, facebook, instagram, twitter, snapchat compatible with this fire hd tablet. if so can you do a review.

  5. Amazon has the Fire 8 Tablet for $55 dollars, 2024 edition, I just need E-books and audibles use, good buy for me? I mean I'd spend twice that if I went out to eat at nicer restaurant…..

  6. Figured this is the way to go as I have a bit of an investment in Amazon's content ecosystem with ebooks audiobooks and movies on prime video but man that fire OS looks…. not great. Bummer.. Great video though

  7. Thanks for the feedback! I’m thrilled because my first tablet is arriving today, and I can’t wait to start using it. I’m not really into gaming, but I’m a huge fan of watching movies, YouTube, and scrolling through social media. It seems like this tablet will be ideal for my needs! I just hope a YouTube app becomes available soon.

  8. These are really good. I like that it bigger than a phone. Although I have questions; sometime kids use my tablet. I don't want them to see the graphic icons on it such as book covers of books I'm reading. How do I block that, or change what's visible?

  9. 3GB RAM? I wouldn't buy any brand of tablet, phone, or PC unless it has 8GB of RAM. It bogs down otherwise.
3GB – Haahaahaa! WHAT A SAD JOKE!!!! That massive sized bezel makes them look like 2001 tech! 🙁

  10. I just got the 13th gen HD10 and it's slow and streams poorly. Btw I have two 12th gen of same that work great. How can they put out something thats markedly slower than previous? Updating the firmware only slightly improved it.

  11. I've enjoyed my hd10 for the last 2 years tbf never need to worry about it getting dented or damaged , it still looks amazing don't throw it round but I'm not too careful with it and sometimes that's what you need when going away ,watching movies , streaming music to Bluetooth speaker etc all been brilliant. I will need a tablet for work purposes which I will get something else but this has been brilliant

  12. Thanks for the upload! Amazon is delivering mine today. It’ll be my first tablet. Not really planning to use it for gaming. I enjoy basic things like watching movies/youtube videos, social media, etc. I think this will be PERFECT for me just based on your review.

  13. I had this for a few years before switching to lenovo. I did like it for the time but their were so many limitations compared to ipad and android tablets. If it didint have those limitations and some m ore optoiions to it i may have kept and its useless if you dont have an amazon account.
