there are only two, and they are the only popular ones. you tell me there are 9? and popular?
define that
There is a new os for mobile harmony os next
bigger taxes for monopoly … taxe them to the grave … problem solved .
the main reason why states exist is to prevent monopoly . and states failed . to big to fail has to end .
Say hello to harmony os
Its almost 2024 and we still don't have any alternative to android and ios.
A lot of the ideas you mentioned have kinda been tried and failed already. The reason why UWP didn't take off is because no one wants to use windows on an already computationally weak mobile device, and it's buggy, and there was almost no support for it, so windows phones were a bust. Voice controlled/AI assistant controlled services haven't taken off because the tech just isn't there yet. Although it may be feasible to train an AI for this purpose for a single user, marketting a full service for it has proved difficult as AI is still very prone to hallucinations. modular hardware hasn't taken off because locking users into ecosystems and charging exhorbitant amounts to repair tends to be more profitable. "convergence" isn't ideal as a consumer because my desktop PC is physically 10x or even 100x more powerful than some phone could ever be. On top of that, my desktop workload tends to have little to no overlap with my phone workload that isn't already available via the cloud. As wishful as all of this sounds, the tech and whatnot just isn't there yet, even six years later
we already have modular phones. Samsung has 27 models in the Galaxy series plus 13 flagship models… that's 40 variants, or… 40 different configurations.
Web apps could replace apps, but developers have to build in the functionality into those apps. Like WhatsApp doesn't have a web app, but it could. Usually, developers want you to use their app, not a web app.
Android apps on Chromebooks are trash though
I miss Windows mobile phone 🙁
Google paid Samsung a lot of money to hault developing & using their Tizen OS.
And now it's September 2022 and Android and iOS are still at a combined 99% market share. And neither modularity nor Convergence have gained any traction.
You were wrong
How is called this kind of disruptive way of work on software industry.
It’s so interesting looking back over 4 years later where apple dominates the smartwatch industry particularly with the health community and younger generation and smart speakers have become a normal part of a home yet the hot swapible phones and turning a phone into a tablet or pc has really died down and didn’t go that far except maybe Samsung dex. It’s always hard to predict what will catch on and that’s what I got from this, that you can’t see the future. At the time the Apple Watch would have only been on its 2nd generation yet I saw a significant increase starting around the series 5 where it was becoming part of everyday life to have a smart watch. The universal app support was spot on with iOS apps now being able to run on macs either ported for intel or automatically with M1.
Cause America has no phones cause of our government other countries have plenty of phones and they have good ones they are mostly android.
Hdjwgsua znjwusuw xkqjhzuq xjwidhuw!!!
MetaVearse says Hi. I am from the future anyway
Reason – App Store/Play Store.
and then HarmonyOS appeared..
6:45 flutter and web assembly finna be the next big shift
Google start b!tching nowadays, Microsoft, Here Map, Nokia, Jolla & Huawei needs to collab to build new true open source Linus mobile os & map service & Youtube alternative to beat Android domination
here in 2021 we still have only 2 operating systems. Yea, I know there is harmonyos being developed, besides that harmony os is just looking like a android knock off.
Fuschia might change the game completely
But I'll still try my best
I know I can make one
IDK…but I'll still try
Android, ios, windows, simbyne, lynux, harmony,ui ,amigo ,etc are the softwares but consumers doesnot like other os in the market.
> The same app can not only run on multiple device types, but also on multiple operating systems, which is quite impressive
7:24 Well, Google has taken that to an extreme with Flutter 2, which can now use a single codebase for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, ChromeOS, and even the web!
We need a 3rd OS 🤔🤔
I laughed so hard at this part 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 5:55
Nobody knows about Ubuntu touch?!?!
Always will remain on top, Apple Microsoft and Google, they have all the talent, resources but most of all, Deep pockets!
God can you imagine what a garbage fire Facebook OS would be
6:37 Just a suggestion. Since you yourself use Mozilla Firefox to browse, don't use the Ch**me logo to imply the web
5:03
Voice is extremely limited way of interaction
I am speechless, let's just type
It's actually very simple: Developers and public acceptance. Windows 10 Mobile could have been a worthy 3rd mobile OS alternative to the Google-Apple duopoly, but the lack of developers interest killed it. That is a shame really because I actually left Android for Windows 10 Mobile since July 2016 and still using it as my daily driver to this day. Definitely happy with the switch and not regretting it at all.
I CAN MAKE OWN OPERATING SYSTEM 😎👈
Kai os was a nice try for dumb phones
what about apps like gallary, calculator, notes, files, etc? How they can be transfered online?
so we must need a app store for these kind of stuffs?
